BPU - Wastewater/Water Intern

Job Description
NATURE OF WORK: Brainerd Public Utilities is currently accepting applications for a Wastewater/Water Intern. Primary duties are to assist the Wastewater/Water crew with day-to-day activities and related special projects. EXAMPLES OF WORK: • Assist Wastewater/Water personnel in Plant operations and maintenance and distribution maintenance. • Daily rounds of Plant equipment for proper operation. • Lift station maintenance and cleaning. • Laboratory duties as needed. • Perform other duties as directed. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Enrolled in a post-secondary education pursuing a degree or certificate in Wastewater/Water Technology or a closely- related field. • Valid MN driver’s license. • Physical ability for frequent bending and lifting. • Awareness of traffic flow is required. • Preference will be given to those who qualify for the Sourcewell Internship Program TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT*: Starting salary is $18 - $20 per hour DOQ. This is an internship (temporary) position with flexible dates between mid-May through August. Work hours are generally 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week (no overtime).
